Crescent Moon Boomerangs

Games & Trick Catching

GAMES

(1) Doubling: Try throwing two boomerangs simultaneously and catching both as well. Best attempted on a windless day with similar shaped and weighted “rangs”.

(2) Juggling: Try keeping at least one or more “rangs” airborne at all times while continually throwing a different one. Best attempted on a windless day.

(3) Endurance: This is a competitive event where a thrower has to throw and catch as many as possible in 5 minutes. Have a friend time you and then switch. The world record is 73 times!!!

(4) Aussie Accuracy: This game consists of longest distance throws with very little step movement in catching. Try making a mark of where your throwing area is to use as a reference point when catching to determine how far off or on you are.

(5) BOOM!: This is just like the basketball game of HORSE. Have a friend take turns and every time a returned rang is dropped, the thrower gets a letter. The first person to spell BOOM loses.

(6) Buddha catch: Try a half or full lotus or simply sit and throw and see if you can catch without moving!

(7) Fast Catch: The object here is to throw and catch one boomerang five times in the shortest period. The world record is just over 15 seconds!

(8) MTA (MAXIMUM TIME ALOFT): A boomerang is thrown and timed for the duration of its flight. The world record is 1 minute 40 seconds! Keep in mind the average flight span of a rang is under 20 seconds!

TRICK CATCHING

Two-handed catch, one handed catch (either left or right), behind the back, under the leg, etc. Or make up your own! Think like in Frisbee….
